The Sandra Schmirler Foundation annual telethon is being held at the Valhalla Hotel and Conference Centre on Sunday February 16, 2025. Calls will be answered from 9am to 10:30pm and TSN will be covering this event.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation is a registered national charity established in honour of Sandra Schmirler. Sandra was a three-time Canadian and World Champion and was the skip of Canada's first Olympic gold medal curling team. Sandra passed away in 2000 at the age of 36, leaving behind two young daughters.

With the help of Curling Canada and Scott Paper, Sandra's fellow curlers, friends and a family started the Foundation to honour her legacy. Since 2001, the Sandra Schmirler Foundation has donated close to $9 million to neonatal intensive care units in over 109 hospitals across Canada.

The Sandra Schmirler Foundation holds a telethon to raise funds and ensure Sandra's legacy lives on with future generations. This year we’re expanding our messaging to better reflect the far-reaching impact of donor support. Our tagline, “Helping save the lives of babies born too soon, too small, or too sick,” now includes “too far.” This addition underscores the commitment to funding the equipment to facilitate the transportation of these vulnerable newborns to hospitals equipped to provide the critical care they require.
